Born and raised in England, an unplanned family visit to Denmark in 2019 led me to pursue the International Baccalaureate program in Sønderborg. From there, I continued my education in Odense, earning both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Southern Denmark.
At KMEB, I have conducted both degrees and two individual study assignments under the supervision of Associate Professor Alexander Rauch, focusing on bone biology, specifically bone marrow adiposity and its role within the microenvironment.
Paradoxically, both a calorie surplus and deficit lead to increased marrow adiposity. Yet, despite arising under opposing conditions and distinct anatomical-geographical placement, bone marrow adipocytes are often generalized as identical both in terms of function and morphology. To challenge this oversimplification, my PhD project will build upon prior investigations to molecularly phenotype bone marrow adipocytes, exploring their diversity using dietary-induced adipogenesis.
Outside the lab, I enjoy the fundamentals, exercing, gaming, and the occasional travel. Please take me to a warm beach and give me a strong drink from a coconut… preferably with one of those little umbrellas.
