Narrative Medicine in Education, Practice, and Interventions is published by Anthem Press.

Narrative medicine is a growing field of research and teaching. It arises from an interdisciplinary interest in person-centered medicine and is regarded as a major innovation in the medical humanities.

The anthology is made up of four parts. The first describes narrative medicine as a diverse field. The second presents narrative medicine in the teaching of healthcare professionals. The third part provides examples of the application of narrative medicine in clinical practice, and the final part deals with narrative medicine in intervention research.

The book is aimed partly at students on medical or healthcare courses, and partly at healthcare professionals who encounter people with health issues. The book will also be of use to students and researchers in the humanities wishing to see their skills applied in a broader context.

This lucid and accessible collection of essays brings together international researchers with Danish scholars who’ve pioneered the teaching of narrative medicine at the University of Southern Denmark. Offering an attractive blend of theory and practice, it combines surveys of key ideas with new research, innovative perspectives, and enlightening discussion of concrete examples. This is a much-needed addition to the rapidly growing field of narrative medicine.
