With a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Science at SDU, you will be able to:

• independently apply the theories and methods of one or more subject areas as well as engage with subject matters and methods within the field of research of said subject area
• plan and conduct scientific projects at a high academic level
• explain hypotheses from a qualified theoretical background and be critical towards your own and others’ research results and scientific models
• initiate and carry out academic and biological related interdisciplinary collaboration and take responsibility for your  own academic development and specialisations
• communicate research-based knowledge and discuss professional and scientific problems with both peers and non-specialists

With a Master’s degree in Medicinal chemistry you will have knowledge of:

• basic theoretical concepts and experimental methods based on international research at the highest level in the field of medicinal chemistry
• subject matters within the medical-chemical and related research
• the development process for a new drug
• expert knowledge in a defined field of research pertaining to the subject area of medicinal chemistry

Additionally, you will be able to:

• understand, and on a scientific basis reflect on, knowledge pertaining to the subject area of medicinal chemistry
• identify scientific problems
• plan and perform advanced medicinal chemical experiments, including synthetic organic chemistry
• identify and describe modern computational chemical methods
• apply structural chemical characterisation techniques
• elucidate proposed hypotheses against a qualified theoretical background
• investigate concrete phenomena theoretically and/or experimentally, thus contributing to generating new scientific insights or creating new applications of medicinal chemical research

With the international dimension of the programme, you will also acquire competences to handle academic and personal relationships in intercultural contexts and to understand that the approach to the subject’s key matters and methods is independent of national borders.
