Danish Research Festival with Simon Talbot, spot-on research and debate on borders

The time has come again to celebrate the Danish Research Festival, which is a national event providing everybody a glimpse of the world of researchers and see how research affects our everyday lives. SDU Sønderborg hosts a series of exciting activities for children and grown-ups over the course of the Danish Research Festival-week. It all takes place at Alsion.

Research fight for primary schools

It’s time to find the smartest young brains in Sønderborg! On Monday April 25 from 10-14 school kids from 7th-9th grade compete on doing the best mini research project on subjects dealing with the climate, politics, and innovation. The competition takes place in the Concert Hall at Alsion and three professors from SDU Sønderborg will find the best project among the eight finalists. Stand-up comedian Simon Talbot is host and will lead finalists and guests through the competition with his sparkling glimpse in the eye and fun lines.

Spot-on research

Every year, new researchers are hatched and with their PhD-projects have brand new knowledge in each their special field of expertise. All projects from SDU Sønderborg are gathered in the new publication “Forskningskanonen”. It is possible to meet all researchers at an event at Alsion on Thursday April 28 from 1-3 pm, where three PhD-students will present their projects. Moreover, the remaining PhD-students will be ready at a poster session to tell guests about their research.

Borders before, now and in the future

The Schengen cooperation is breaking up. As a reaction to the stream of refugees in the summer and autumn of 2015, a substantial number of European countries have implemented temporary border control. Some countries have lifted it again while others expect to maintain the border control until May this year. The Center for Border Region Studies invites to a debate meeting about the Nordic and European borders, border regions and border control as seen from cultural, social, historical and political perspectives. Join the exiting debate on Alsion Friday April 29 from 2-5 pm.
