Projects

BIOCAS (circular BIOmass CAScade to 100%)
In this project a biomass pretreatment technology will be developed and upscaled. We develop a long- and short term co-prestorage strategy for lignocellulosic residual biomasses and diverse industrial/agricultural wastes as alternative pretreatment methods to improve biomass conversion to energy and prevent unwished biomass lignification and cellulose crystallization.

The project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (Interreg Northsea region).

Implementing municipal organic waste for biogas production
Regionalfondsprojekt energioptimering og affaldshåndtering (Energy Optimization and Waste Management). In the project a new technology for energy production and recycling of nutrients of municipal organic waste through anaerobic digestion and environmentally friendly pretreatment is developed in collaboration with Fredericia recycling center and wastewater treatment plant.

Start: July 2017; End: June 2019.  The project is supported by the EU regional fund.

Biogas upgrading - eFuel project
In this project we explore bio-natural gas production through an advanced biological biogas upgrading system assisted by hydrogen from wind power in collaboration with Nature Energy and the Technical University of Denmark. Through this project we develop biologically-mediated upgrading systems from lab-scale to industry scale, where H2 generated through water electrolysis is biologically converted to CH4 by the action of autochthonous hydrogenotrophic methanogens without any additional energy input.

Start: March 2019; End: Feb 2023. The project is supported by EUDP.
