SDU Dean becomes new Vice-Chancellor at CBS

 From 1 March, Dean Nikolaj Malchow-Møller will become the Vice-Chancellor of CBS.

Nikolaj Malchow-Møller is a Professor of economics and has been a leading figure at the University of Southern Denmark for nine years. In 2009 he was appointed head of the Department of Business and Economics and later Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences in 2014. The faculty counts around 525 members of staff and 11,500 students.

As Dean, Nikolaj Malchow-Møller has been at the forefront of developing the faculty at a time when the university sector has been experiencing major changes. He says:

- It has been an exciting but also challenging time, in which we have really begun to see changes in the political landscape as well as spending cuts. This has highlighted the need for a strategic development of the faculty, which we are addressing, but has also necessitated a range of adjustments which have not always been easy.

- Despite this, I have almost always encountered constructiveness and commitment on the part of colleagues, who have all shown a great passion for SDU – and who have been keen to contribute to the strategic development project. This is fantastic to see and is why I have enjoyed going to work nearly every single day.

- I very much hope that the positive developments at the faculty will continue – and I will miss being part of these, he adds.

Returning to CBS

When Nikolaj Malchow-Møller takes up his post as Vice-Chancellor next year, he will be returning to CBS. From 2005 to 2009 he was employed by CBS where he was Director of Research at the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR).

- It is an exciting challenge and an important societal mission, which I look forward to embarking on. With its strong, diverse research environments and education and training, CBS is of enormous importance to our society, says Nikolaj Malchow-Møller.
