New honorary fellow to SDU

SDU is happy to announce that Darlene Cavalier has been appointed Honorary Fellow for a 5-year term by the Science Faculty in a collaboration with the SDU Citizen Science Knowledge Center.

Darlene Cavalier is a professor of practice at Arizona State University's School for the Future of Innovation in Society. She has made innovative contributions to the science of learning and is the founder of ‘SciStarter’, a groundbreaking citizen science-portal that has enabled millions of people to participate in scientific research.

She is a founding board member of the American Citizen Science Association (AAPS), an advisor and Fellow at National Geographic, a member of the EPA's National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology and an author or coauthor of several books and journal articles. She is also the cofounder of ‘ECAST: Expert and Citizen Assessment of Science and Technology’, a distributed network of institutions for peer-to-policy public deliberation.

During her appointment, Darlene will be affiliated with the Centre for Research in Science Education and Communication (FNUG) as well as SDU Citizen Science Knowledge Center. The goal is to collaborate not only with these two centers but also their partners to offer new research and dissemination opportunities for the greater SDU.

Darlene Cavalier will make her inaugural presentation at the DIAS Auditorium 25. September. She will visit SDU for the duration of the week.
