Ph.D. Angela Y. Chang is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Research at SDU.

Angela Y. Chang received her master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, doctoral degree from Harvard University, and postdoctoral training at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. She grew up in Taiwan and Japan, and is currently based in Copenhagen.

Her research interests lie in the areas of global health, health economics, and health metrics.  She is committed to reducing health and wealth inequalities globally through her work, and is motivated by the belief that research can provide the inputs needed to inform policies and improve resource allocation, and ultimately, impact population health.

Her recent works consists of measuring population aging and capturing the monetary value of changes in health to estimate the economic burden of disease. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and worked with international global health agencies including the World Bank, UNICEF, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Her current projects include:

  • Measuring experienced burden of disease in Denmark
  • Estimating health adjusted income
  • Exploring the relationship between gender equality and health
  • Estimating the effect of age-disparate relationships on women’s life outcomes in Zimbabwe

When she is not at work, you will find her at local playgrounds pushing her daughters on swings (for an unreasonable length of time).
