The Niels Bohr Professorship “Uses of Literature. The Social Dimensions of Literature” has the pleasure of inviting you to a seminar with Professor Eric Hayot (Penn State). Hayot will run a seminar on his book The Elements of Academic Style: Writing for the Humanities (Columbia University Press, 2014). Since its publication, it has established itself as the leading book on academic writing for literary scholars. Professor Hayot is a former President of the American Comparative Literature Association and a leading scholar in the field. Hayot’s book On Literary Worlds (Oxford, 2012) has been widely discussed, along with the related article "Against Periodization," published in New Literary History.
So that there is a shared knowledge base, participants are asked to prepare for the seminar by reading chapters 3 & 4 of The Elements of Academic Style: Writing for the Humanities:
Chapter 3: “Eight Strategies for Getting Writing Done” (will be forwarded to the participants)
Chapter 4: “Institutional Contexts” (will be forwarded to the participants)
Participation is by enrolment only. Please register your interest in attending the seminar no later than August 5, 2018 by using the link: http://webpay.sdu.dk/system/ehayot
