Supplementary courses

Supplementary courses are only possible for master's degree programmes that specifically state this in their programme regulations and on the programme page under Admission.

You pay for the supplementary subjects yourself.

It is stated in the programme regulations of each programme whether and how much you can supplement. However, it is never possible to supplement with more than 30 ECTS.

If you are still in your bachelor's programme, it is easiest to take the missing subjects as electives. If this is not possible, you can apply for admission to relevant single courses, for example through SDU's single-course programme. You can add a maximum of 30 ECTS, and you must complete the courses before you complete your bachelor's programme.

If you have completed your bachelor's programme, you may be accepted to the master's programme on the condition that you take one or more supplementary courses immediately before study start or concurrently with the master's programme.

In that case, you must apply for admission to your desired master's programme before you can take supplementary courses. You cannot be told in advance whether you will be accepted for admission on the condition that you take supplementary courses, you have to apply to get the assessment.

Can I take supplementary courses between bachelor’s and master’s programme?

You cannot finish supplementary courses in the period between completing your bachelor's programme and being accepted for admission to your master's programme. Courses you have finished before starting your bachelor’s programme cannot be accepted as supplementary courses.

If you want to take supplementary courses alongside your bachelor's programme, you can apply for admission to the courses through SDU's single course programme.

SDU’s programmes have a limited number of student places which means that you are not guaranteed a place on the master's programme even if you enrol in relevant supplementary courses. You may therefore risk paying for single courses without being accepted to the master's programme of your choice.

If you want to apply for the master's programme on the condition that you pass a summer school course before study start or a semester course after study start, you must apply for admission to the master's programme through the regular admission process.

If you are offered a student place with the condition of a supplementary course, we will enrol you in the relevant course(s).

Whether you can be offered a student place with a supplementary condition depends on which courses SDU offers during the period. If the course is not offered at SDU during the relevant period, you cannot be offered admission on condition of supplementation.

You must pay for the supplementary courses yourself. The courses belong to tariff group 1 in the single course programme.
