Jannik Schröder - MSc Sports and Event Management

What did you study in your Bachelors and Masters and when did you graduate?

I studied the B.Sc. Sport management in Leipzig, Germany. Following, I chose to study the MSc. in Economics and Business Administration – Sports and Event Management in Esbjerg. I graduated in September 2016.

Why did you choose to study the Master in Sport and Event Management?

I have been interested in sports all along. This is why I decided to study Sport management in Leipzig in the first place. However, I was also excited about the idea of proceeding my studies in English. So I looked for programs abroad which eventually led me to the Sports and Event Management program in Esbjerg.

In the end, the simple fact that there are no study fees in Denmark made me apply for the program. Looking back, now that I graduated, what I found to be really great in the program were the various examination styles and the opportunity to study abroad in the 3rd semester.

How was your time studying here in Esbjerg?

I lived in Esbjerg for one year. After that I studied abroad for one semester and wrote my Master Thesis in Munich. Esbjerg is a little city and its bar scene is rather small. However, as students usually are accommodated at the same places it is not hard to find something to do or find somebody to do things with you.

To sum it up, my time in Esbjerg can be best described as: meeting internationals, riding the bike, learning Danish, studying and being creative in finding something to do after class.

Where are you working now and how did you get there?

At the moment I work for the German football club FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.v. I am responsible for the sales of Schalke 04 products to retailers all over the world. After applying with my CV I was invited for an interview.

As in other interviews before, I realized once again that studying abroad is still extraordinary, which definitely gave me a competitive advantage.
