Programme structure

The part-time Master's degree programme in Computer science consists of the exact same elements as the two-year programme:

  • Constituent Master's courses (30 ECTS)
  • Elective courses (30 ECTS)
  • Master's Thesis project (60 ECTS)

Constituent Master's courses

You can choose your constituent courses among the Master- and PhD-level courses and projects offered by the Faculty of Science within the field of Computer science, as long as you meet any entry requirements.

Elective courses

You can choose your elective courses among all Master- and PhD-level courses offered by the Faculty of Science, as well as other courses pre-approved by the Study Board, as long as you meet any entry requirements.

Specialisations

The structure of the programme allows you to opt for a general profile or specialise in one of the following subject areas:

The specialisations should be considered as suggestions to give you a better overview of the constituent and elective courses that we offer, but you will not be required to stick to courses from just one specialisation.

Master's Thesis project

On the third and fourth years of the programme, you work on your Master's Thesis project, which has a standard weighting of 60 ECTS. However, you may scale down your Master's  Thesis project to 30 ECTS and take an extra 30 ECTS of constituent Master's courses.

You will typically be affiliated with a relevant research group, who will be able to counsel and guide you in your literature search and your collection or processing of research data.
