Combine game development and interaction technology

Do you want to create the technological solutions of the future that support the meeting between man and technology? Then a degree in Game Development and Learning Technology might be something for you.

Technology is a big part of our everyday lives. With a degree in Game Development and Learning Technology, you will become an expert in the meeting between people and technology. You will help create the solutions of the future in computer games, learning applications and technologies, simulations for training in Virtual and Augmented Reality and physical interactive technologies to support, for example, learning, training, and gaming experiences. With the programme, you will become wiser about how people experience, motivate, learn, and express themselves.

What will I learn?

The programme combines engineering science in software programming and hardware development with learning, interaction design and media science. You will gain skills within game design, programming and graphics, virtual and augmented reality, learning programmes, hardware and building physical prototypes, robots for play and learning, interaction design, web application development and much more.

You will learn how to design and develop games, robotics, media science, websites, and apps with a focus on play, learning, experience, and interaction.

The programme focuses on the design and development of virtual and physical-digital products, based on the user's needs. You will gain an understanding of how games, play and learning work in the cultural context in which they are part, and how to talk effectively with the user through technology. For example, you can help develop the computer games of the future, create 3D virtual reality applications, design play environments and learning robots.

How is the programme structured?

The programme consists of a combination of theoretical courses and practical project work. Each semester is based on a main theme, which becomes the basis for the semester's theory and project work.
A large part of the teaching time in the first four semesters is devoted to projects where you, together with other students, use the theory to develop prototypes for, for example, a computer game, an AR training application, or an interactive physical interface that can support e.g., mathematics teaching in primary school.

The main subject in the first semester is Program Development and Games. The second semester focuses on History-based games. In the third semester, the main theme is Learning. The fourth semester focuses on Game-based Learning. In the fifth semester, the focus is on Virtual Reality, as well as entrepreneurship and innovation, and you will work with fellow students from other fields of study. In the sixth semester, you will write your bachelor project, based on all your knowledge from the previous semesters.

As a student, you will also carry out fieldwork in the users' environment, where you will investigate their needs, get good ideas and test the products.

Master's Degree

The bachelor's programme lasts three years, after which you take the two-year master's programme in Software Engineering to achieve a MSc in Engineering.

What can I become?

The programme provides you with several career opportunities - both in Denmark and abroad. You will typically work in high-tech companies or institutions that deal with research and/or development. You can, for example, get a job as a developer, project manager, consultant, researcher, or teacher. You can also continue your studies with a 3-year research programme, which leads to a PhD degree.

That is why you should study...

  • You will learn how to design and develop games, robots, media science, websites, and apps with a focus on play, learning, experience, and interaction
  • You will be helping to create the solutions of the future within e.g., computer games and learning apps
  • You will learn how to develop innovative solutions to specific problems
