Significant Achievements

Group Of Machine Learning And AI

This project aims to identify and characterise certain diseases of small and large bowel, such as colonic and inflammatory bowel diseases, colorectal cancer and Crohn’s disease using wireless capsule endoscopy coupled with AI.

PLAN4ACT EU Project (FET-Proactive)

Think about a cup of coffee and the coffee machine starts brewing. Researchers at the University of Southern Denmark are copying the thought patterns of monkeys in order to develop intelligent systems that could give the power of thought a whole new meaning. They are attempting to merge monkeys' brains with computers.

Fault Detection and Prediction in Offshore Wind Turbines

Installation of offshore wind turbines for exploitation of the huge wind energy resources in marine environments represents the most important opportunity for further development of this technology. However, the reliability of the entire system will play a central role in the design, construction and installation of competitive wind turbines, given that for 20 years of turbine life-time, the operation and maintenance (O&M) cost of e.g. a 750kW turbine might account for about 25% - 30% of the overall energy generation cost or 75% - 90% of the investment cost.

Locomorph

The Locomorph project was funded by the FET Proactive ‘Embodied Intelligence’ Initiative within the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Work Programme, under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Union. The project duration was four years, starting from February 2009. The consortium consisted of six universities in five countries.
