READVERTISEMENT - Process Engineer in Manufacturing of Flexible devices from Roll-to-Roll (R2R)

We are an international research group working in the field of organic solar cells (SDU NanoSYD OPV), looking for a highly motivated Process Engineer to join our research team at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), SDU NanoSYD, Sønderborg, in the field of Roll-to-Roll (R2R) manufacturing of flexible devices, having a strong focus on up-scaling of organic photovoltaics and supercapacitors.

The position is for 18 months, with the possibility for further extension, starting from June 1st 2019, or as soon as possible.
At the Organic Photovoltaics group lead by Associate Prof. Morten Madsen at SDU NanoSYD, Mads Clausen Institute, SDU campus Sønderborg, the focus is on development of flexible photovoltaic devices with improved performance, including device stability and up-scaling. The group has full access to an ISO5 cleanroom and surface science laboratory facility for the full preparation and characterization of organic solar cells, and a production facility for roll-to-roll development of flexible devices. The research group is partner in various national and international research projects and networks that include both university and industrial collaboration partners.

The position will be connected to the Roll-to-Roll (R2R) facility, where the successful candidate will be working on Sheet-to-Sheet (S2S) and Roll-to-Roll (R2R) printing of flexible devices and thin-films, having a strong focus on organic solar cells and supercapacitors. The position is linked to the Rollflex project (, led by SDU, which includes a number of national and international university and industrial partners.

The candidate will work on process optimization for manufacturing of thin-film devices from R2R technology, as well as characterization of the developed thin films. The candidate will be working as part of the organic solar cells group at SDU and the R2R facility, which includes both technical staff and researchers.

Candidates who have a previous Bachelor degree in a field relevant to the areas mentioned above may seek the position. Preferred candidates have experience with thin film processing techniques, R2R printing technology and/or organic/hybrid device technology. The candidate should possess good teamwork and collaboration skills, as routinely interaction with researchers and technical staff members will take place.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
