Our research focus is to optimise the prototyping process by adopting state-of-the-art prototyping techniques and machine learning algorithms. This requires the understanding of the usage and value of various prototyping tools, materials and technologies. The algorithms are supposed to provide an optimised prototyping process over the whole product life cycle for practitioners. Different simulation and PLM software is used to support decision making.
A current focus is on virtual prototyping. We investigate the effects of virtual prototypes vs. physical prototypes. The user behaviour in VR environment. We are also familiar with various VR applications for collaborative prototyping.
