Volunteers can contribute in many different ways and fields in Denmark. Also it might provide you with an opportunity to meet relevant employees from company’s or other work places that you are interested in. You never know, where you are going to meet the person that can help you find a job! Being a volunteer also means that you get the chance to work with something that you are really passionate about, because it is possible to combine your volunteer work with your hobbies. Some of the well-known volunteer organizations in Denmark are:
- Røde Kors (the Danish Red Cross)
- Unicef
- Amnesty International
- Danmission
- Oxfam IBIS
There are a lot of different organizations like social organizations, which provide counselling or guidance to people in need. Cultural organizations could for example be theatre or music groups, but it could also be about sport activities and the like. There are also a lot of private organizations that you can find. But the important thing to know is that you are able to find an organization for almost everything in Denmark. By the end of your volunteer period some places even offer a letter of recommendation to attach your future job application.
