One of 7 deaths among men and one of 13 deaths among women in Europe is due to alcohol consumption. The aim of the RELIP-project is to increase the opportunities of health services to prevent these deaths.
The RELIP-project is developing an algorithm, that makes it possible to use already existing information from journals to ensure an early identification of problematic and complicated alcohol consumption among hospitalized patients. The aim of the project is to develop a clinically relevant platform for staff to make an early intervention towards alcohol problems. Further the project also aims to develop and test a model of how to use already collected journal data in a relevant way to inform staff about patient symptoms without it causing increased time spend or increased documentation collection. Experience with developing algorithms to identification of alcohol problems is expected to be utilized in various fields.
