Cue Exposure

The Cue Exposure study was a randomized controlled trial, that compared aftercare based on cue exposure treatment (CET) delivered either by a therapist or through a smartphone application with standard aftercare, with the aim of preventing relapse to harmful drinking. The conclusion of the Cue Exposure study is that neither CET with urge-specific coping skills (USCS) delivered via group session, nor a smartphone application as aftercare, increased the effectiveness of primary treatment.

The Cue Exposure study is completed, but UCAR has continued to work with the study by performing sub-studies and analyzing the large amount of data collected.
