Welcome to the Department of Language, Culture, History and Communication

 The Department of Language, Culture, History and Communication is a newly established department and is one of the two departments created through a reorganization of the departmental structure at The Faculty of Humanities with effect from January 1, 2023.

Research within the department covers the areas of American Studies, Audiologopaedia, Business Language, Classical Studies, Communication, Comparative Literature, Culture, Danish, English, German, History, Middle East Studies, and the Study of Religion.

The department’s academic staff teach in 15 degree programmes at bachelor level and 13 degree programmes at master’s level with approximately 2,800 students in total. Some of the degree programmes are offered in collaboration with other departments and Faculties.

The department is characterized by strong co-working communities within and across the different areas of research and teaching.

The department has approximately 200 permanent employees as well as a number of part-time  staff.

The department conducts research and teaching in Odense and Slagelse.
