Profile

Our Control And Protection in Smart Grids (CAP-SG) team dedicates its research work to the development and implementation of advanced control and protection approaches for grid-integration of renewable energy and energy storage in the context of smart grids. We actively work on the following areas:

  • Design and implementation of protection and control schemes for smart grids and microgrids with high penetration of RES
  • Low Voltage and Fault Ride Through (LVRT and FRT) of RES
  • Power quality challenges and solutions with high penetration of RES
  • Performance analysis of power systems with high penetration of PV and wind power plants involved in providing both electrical power and grid support services
  • Control design and implementation for ESS, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and Power Conditioners (e.g. active power filters).
