  Ærø becomes a new network partner in SDU project – the green island is supposed to become even greener

  The little gem in the southern Danish sea, Ærø, produces more power than the island itself consumes. Paradoxically, Ærø is nevertheless forced to export and import power because the consumption pattern of the inhabitants does not match the production of the six large wind turbines on the southwest coast of the island. This problem is now addressed by an Interreg project with SDU as lead partner.

  NanoSYD leads new large EU project on organic solar cells

  The FP7 Marie Curie programme Initial Training Network (ITN) has granted around 29 million DKK for establishment of a new network led by NanoSYD, The Mads Clausen Institute. The project will focus on development of new types of energy devices based on organic materials. Among other things, the network will include research in and development of new types of solar cells based on organic thin-films, which in the future is aimed at playing a role in reducing the use of fossil fuels.

  Scientific consensus for perovskite solar cells published in Nature Energy

  The so-called perovskite solar cells are on the cusp of becoming a commercial breakthrough but, despite promising results, it has been difficult to compare the scientific breakthroughs because of differences in the description of progress. Together with an international research group led by Monica Lira-Cantu (ICN2, Barcelona) as well as Eugene Katz and Mark Khenkin (Ben-Gurion University, Negev), the solar cell group at SDU NanoSYD in Sonderborg have released a statement on the description of progress in connection to the stability of perovskite solar cells. The statement is published in the highly acknowledged research magazine Nature Energy.
