Functional disorders

FSS can be defined as physical symptoms that cannot be fully explained by organic pathology or any other physical disease or psychiatric disorder (van Gils et al., 2014, Garralda et al., 2015). The most common and well described FSS of early childhood is abdominal pain (Apley, 1975). With increasing age FSS get more severe and complex, including headaches and other pains, fatigue, and pseudo neurological symptoms (Cottrell, 2016)
