Research areas

Clinical Pharmacology supports the development of New Chemical Entities towards/for uncovered medical needs.

Clinical Pharmacology is an interdisciplinary medical specialty which contains activities within teaching, treatment of patients and research; in practice, these three areas are closely connected.

The programme is based on research and contains research-related teaching by pre-graduates; primarily by students within the field of medicine, clinical biomechanics and pharmacy but also from the field of science. The post-graduate teaching is primarily undertaken by doctors during their specialist training but also by doctors as a part of a lifelong training. The clinical functions are described in the overall introduction.

There is no clear-cut definition of clinical pharmacological research but some research areas are traditionally performed by clinical pharmacologists.
