The register mainly contains a historical part, which as far back as possible includes all Danes who have died at the age of 100 years or more since the 1835th.
- Until 1943 the Register is based on statistical reports about the number of deaths with an age of 100 years or more, and reports from the local church registrar to Statistics Denmark.
- From 1943 to 1968 is the foundation the Death Certificate Registry
- After 1968 onwards the registrations are based on the Danish Central Person Registry (CPR).
Finally, the register also includes centenarians who are still alive, and this section is updated regularly.
