MCI part of Green Tech Center opening

The Mads Clausen Institute was represented when a completely new lighthouse for green technology in Denmark recently opened. The Green Tech Center is a demonstration center with offices, a lab and an energy park, where companies, entrepreneurs, researchers and educators can develop and demonstrate new green technologies and services. The official opening was held with participation of among others his Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik, the Minister for Climate, Energy and Building Rasmus Helveg Petersen (R) as well as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southern Denmark Henrik Dam.

Workshop on solar cells

Twelve different workshops about energy optimization and alternative energy were held at the opening. Research and development within solar cell technology is a focus area at MCI, among other things through the activities in the recently completed EU project Sunrise-PV. Project Manager from Sunrise, Kasper M. Paasch, was invited to host a workshop about “Solar cell technology, opportunities and challenges”. At the workshop, which had to be repeated due to the great interest from the guests, Kasper walked through the results of the Sunrise project as well as the opportunities for optimization of solar cell systems, large and small.

Continued interest in solar cell systems

Among the audience were architects, engineers, operators and others with interest in solar cell systems. There were lively discussions about both the technical and architectural advantages and disadvantages of different solutions, and even though the Danish market for solar cell systems is currently stagnated due to an undecided political clarification of the circumstances concerning payment for kilowatt hours, it shows that the interest in solar cell systems still remains.
