Didactics and school subjects
This umbrella program embraces research in disciplinary didactics and general didactics. The program aims at creating research questions and new knowledge within didactics and school subjects and thus at contributing to the understanding, analysis, and handling of educational issues and challenges. The research program deals with teaching and learning in schools and other educational institutions, but also with relations between institutional and informal learning arenas. Didactics is a reflective science in more than one sense. Didactic reflection aims at qualifying practical choices, but at another level, didactic reflection serves to illuminate the theories and assumptions behind these choices. The doubled reflection is a distinctive research interest in the program. Through comparative studies of school subjects, didactic theories, and educational traditions, we aim at contributing to the field of comparative (disciplinary) didactics.
