Danish Institute for Advanced Study

The Danish Institute for Advanced Study at The University of Southern Denmark (SDU),  is a research center that aims to inspire groundbreaking ideas through the meeting of minds within all disciplines.

Danish IAS is something new within SDU.
The original idea of a Danish Institute for Advanced Study dates back to the beginning of 2009 -then the first of its kind among the Nordic countries.

The Danish Institute for Advanced Study was launched in a scaled-up form on 23 September 2016. It now includes chairs from all five Faculties at SDU, hosts an extensive seminar program, and has in 2017 hired a number of very promising young scholars.

The Danish IAS brings outstanding  researchers together in an interdisciplinary centre for fundamental research and intellectual inquiry. The Danish IAS exists to encourage and support curiosity-driven research in the sciences and humanities, and thereby unlock new revolutionary ideas.

The centre is led by Professor Thorbjørn Knudsen and Professor Francesco Sannino
