The immigration crisis

The words of Robert Dahl are certainly true for Western European welfare states, as the lively debates on the effects of immigration on social policies and political attitudes demonstrate.

At the Centre for Welfare State Research, we examine the interaction between immigration and the welfare state both with regard to policies and politics.

Recent publications have analyzed how Western European countries have reformed immigration and social policies in response to the immigration ‘challenge’ and how immigration affects support for redistribution and other political attitudes.
