Center for Social Practices and Cognition

Center for Social Practices and Cognition (SoPraCon) was established in 2006 as a research unit under the Institute of Language and Communication. The center is the home of a number of research projects that focus on different aspects and “domains” of social interaction and cognition: communicative disability, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), second language learning, maritime communication, and business communication.

Among its central long term general goals the center strives to develop new, conceptually as wells as empirically (mostly ethnography and micro analysis of social interaction) based ways of studying and perceiving “cognition” in and as a phenomenon of mundane, social, everyday settings.
