Dansk Naturvidenskabsfestival

Abstract submitted to Dansk Naturvidenskabsfestival (p. 57):

Nanoelectronics - development of solar cells, sensors and displays
How can ultrasmall nanostructures be used as small and efficient components for electronic devices such as displays and solar cells?

Smaller and faster are some of the properties sought for electronic devices. To reach these goals, much research focuses on miniature components which can for example consist of one-dimensional nanostructures or nanofibres. The diameter of such nanofibres can be as small as 50 nanometers - which is a thousand times smaller than the diameter of a human hair.

At the NanoSYD Centre we investigate electronic properties of hybrid devices composed of organic (carbon based) and inorganic (non-carbon based) nanofibres using an advanced scanning laser microscope. Those studies will contribute to the development of devices like solar cells, sensors and displays for mobiles and tablets.
