The Center provides education, research, and public engagement on the full range of democracy issues in the United States and the world. The Center has a Middle East focus and gives considerable attention to the challenges of democratisation in the Middle East.

DIIS is an independent research institution engaged in research in international affairs.
The institute draws up reports and analyses and follows developments in international affairs continuously in order to assess the security and foreign policy situation of Denmark, e.g. aspects of relevance with regard to development policy. DIIS has a Middle East section.
