Al-Quds Center for Political Studies
The center is an independent research institute in Amman. The center aims to provide a comprehensive and more accurate understanding of the developments and challenges which the Jordanian state and society are facing. The Center looks to examine, from all possible angles, the regional and international environments surrounding these developments, and to contribute to keeping the Jordanian and Arab public opinion informed regarding the strategic transformations which the region is witnessing. The center has a focus area on democratisation and reform.

The centre seeks to foster sustainable development and democratisation in Jordan and the Middle East. The Center conducts research and hosts conferences in the areas of civil society, democracy and human rights, economic studies, electoral and parliamentary studies, peace studies, social history, water and the environment, and women's studies.

Arab Forum for Alternatives
AFA is an organisation, located in Egypt, which works for a society in which democratic culture prevails, for a society capable of protecting its rights and defending such rights through a democratic movement built on a scientific ground which safeguards the concept itself from being abused.

Arab Reform Initiative (ARI)
ARI is a network of independent Arab research and policy institutes, with partners from the United States and Europe. Its goal is to mobilise the Arab research capacity to advance knowledge and develop a program for democratic reform in the Arab World which is realistic and home grown. The Initiative also aims to produce policy recommendations that can help promote reform in the region.

National Democratic Institute (NDI)
NDI is a non-governmental organisation that has supported democratic institutions and practices in every region of the world for more than two decades.  The institute work to establish and strengthen political and civic organisations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. The institute has an Egypt department.

Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI)
MEMRI is an independent, nonpartisan  organisation that explores the Middle East through the region’s media.  MEMRI has a focus on democratization and reform in the Arab and Muslim world.

Programme on Governance in the Arab Region (UNDP-POGAR)
POGAR was developed at the request of Arab governments, and therefore specifically addresses national needs and concerns. POGAR is dedicated to the promotion and development of good governance practices and related reforms in the Arab states.

Project on Middle East Democracy (POMED)
POMED is dedicated to examining how genuine democracies can develop in the Middle East and how the United States can best support that process.  Through dialogue, research, and advocacy POMED work to strengthen the constituency for U.S. policies that peacefully support democratic reform in the Middle East.

MEDD aims to forge a new consensus on behalf of constructive American engagement for change in the Middle East. The Project ended in January 2010.

René Moawad Foundation (RMF)
RMF is a Lebanese non-governmental organisation. RMF works for, among other thing, to encourage public political participation and promote democratic values in Lebanon.

The Foundation is an organisation shared by the 43 countries of the Union for the Mediterranean, to bring people together to improve mutual respect between cultures, and to support civil society working for a common future of the region.

European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS)
The EUISS is an autonomous agency. As a think tank it researches security issues of relevance for the EU and provides a forum for debate. In its capacity as an EU agency, it also offers analyses and forecasting to the Council of the European Union. Its goals are to find a common security culture for the EU, to help develop and project the CFSP, and to enrich Europe’s strategic debate.

International Affairs Institute (IAI)
A non-profit organisation, the IAI is funded by individual and corporate members, public and private organisations, major international foundations, and by a standing grant from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Institute's main objective is to promote an understanding of the problems of international politics through studies, research, meetings and publications, with the aim of increasing the opportunities of all countries to move in the direction of supranational organisation, democratic freedom and social justice. The institute has an Middle East and Mediterranean department.

IDEA is an intergovernmental organisation that supports sustainable democracy worldwide. IDEA supports sustainable democratic change by providing comparative knowledge, and assisting in democratic reform, and influencing policies and politics. IDEA has a Arab world regional focus.

MEPI located within the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, assists efforts to expand political participation, strengthen civil society and the rule of law, empower women and youth, create educational opportunities, and foster economic reform throughout the Middle East and North Africa.

USAID is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State. USAID focus on, among other things, democracy assistance and has the Middle East as one of its focus areas.

European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External borders (Frontex)
Frontex is the European Union's agency for external border security. Frontext was established in 2005 and is responsible for protecting EU's borders with non-members states from illegal immigration, human trafficking and infiltration by potential terrorist.

The Carnegie centre is a private organisation dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States. The centre has a Arab reform program.

DIE is a think tanks for development policy world-wide.  DIE has a focus area on governance, statehood and security.

FRIDE is a think tank that aims to provide innovative thinking on Europe’s role in the international arena. It strives to break new ground in its core research interests of peace and security, human rights, democracy promotion, and development and humanitarian aid, and mould debate in governmental and non-governmental bodies through rigorous analysis, rooted in the values of justice, equality and democracy.

TFF is an independent think tank, a global network and a website for peace by peaceful means. It inspires a passion for peace from the grassroots to the corridors of power. The Council has a Middle East section.

United States Institute of Peace (USIP)
USIP provides the analysis, training and tools that help to prevent, manage and end violent international conflicts, promote stability and professionalise the field of peace building. The institute has a Muslim world initiative.

WINEP was established to advance a balanced and realistic understanding of American interests in the Middle East. Drawing on the research of its scholars and the experience of policy practitioners, the Institute promotes an American engagement in the Middle East committed to strengthening alliances, nurturing friendships, and promoting security, peace, prosperity, and democracy for the people of the region.

Global Political Trends Center (GPoT)
GPoT is a nonpartisan research institution established under the auspices of Istanbul Kültür University. Our mission is to conduct high quality, independent and innovative research and education, acting as a link between policy-making institutions, academia, civil society and the media.
