New Challenges for the EU and the Arab Mediterranean

Introduction 

Taking its point of departure in the ongoing attempts at developing the ENP it is the ambition of this conference to analyze recent ENP related activities. It is the intention to present state-of-the-art research dealing with the different issues, organized in themed sections and panels, each with a specific focus. The conference will bring together researchers from Middle Eastern and European universities and think tanks for the purpose of analyzing the recent challenges for the EU in the Arab Mediterranean and to discuss the perspectives of the work with the revision of the European Neighbourhood Policy in the coming months and years. It is furthermore the idea to aim at publishing the results of the conference in international academic journals.

Finally it is the intention to establish more permanent research cooperation between Centre for Strategic Studies at University of Jordan and Centre for Contemporary Middle East Studies at University of Southern Denmark, with a focus on EU-Middle Eastern relations.

The conference is arranged by Centre for Contemporary Middle East Studies, University of Southern Denmark and Centre for Strategic Studies, University of Jordan. The conference is funded by the DJUCO Partnership based on a grant from the Danish–Arab Partnership Programme (see http://detarabiskeinitiativ.dk/english/) under the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be hosted by the Centre for Strategic Studies, University of Jordan.
