The Faculty of Science usually has a high rate of applications in connection with the Danish Council for Independent Research’s autumn call for proposals, meaning that many researchers request support from Support Office, Science almost simultaneously.
Therefore, we kindly ask researchers that plan to apply to any of the coming calls from the Danish Council for Independent Research to advise SOS soonest possible in case application and/or CV guidance is required.
For budget assistance only, SOS must be contacted no later than 10 working days prior to deadline, and preferably earlier than this.

The Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF)

Calls for funding DFF opportunities during autumn 2014:
o Individual Postdoc grant (no max. amount limit)
o Sapre Aude – Starting grant/forskningsleder (max 4,9 mio.DKK excl. OH)
o Sapre Aude – Advanced grants/topforsker (max 8,3 mio.DKK excl. OH)
o Research Project 1 (max. 1,8 mio.DKK excl. OH)
o Research Project 2 (1,8-4,5 mio.DKK excl. OH)
o Research Project 3 (4,5-8,3 mio.DKK excl. OH) – only FTP and FSE
o Pregraduate Scholarships (50.000-150.000 DKK excl. OH) – only FSS

Video conference 11. September 2014 about SHINOGI Science Program

Meet the Japanese pharmaceutical company SHINOGI INC. and hear about the SHIONOGI Science Program 2014
The company offers collaboration and supports projects with 5-15 million Yen/year for max. 5 years in research areas such as novel target molecules for drug discovery to treat obesity or non steatohepatitis, serious bacterial-/fungal-infectious diseases or emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, analytical methods and biomarkers to maximize clinical efficacy of therapeutic cancer peptide vaccines, drug discovery to treat cancer etc.

Villum Foundation

  Call open for funding opportunities for individuelle postdoc scholarships. Grants will be awarded for young researchers within the technical and scientific research for the continuation of research after obtaining a PhD degree. Grants include a mobility requirement.
Only Danish citizens can apply.
Deadline: 1. October 2014 at 23:59

The Carlsberg Foundation

The Carlsberg Foundation supports basic research within the natural sciences, the humanities and the social sciences.
o Postdoc grants – abroad for min. 6 months (salary)
o Postdoc grants – in Denmark (salary)
o Travel grants
o Grants for conferences
o Grants for publications
o Grants for scientific equipment/apparatus
o Grants for research trips
o Grants for major research projects
Not funded: a) Overhead costs linked to the grants. b) Clinical, technical, and other practical projects outside the research areas supported by the Carlsberg Foundation.

Deadline: 1 October every year

Strategic cooperation between Griffith University, Australia and University of Southern Denmark

Researchers from each institution have the possibility to apply for seed money for joint projects such as research projects, papers or grant applications, etc.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Committee for Medical and Natural Science Research

Calls for grant proposals for research projects in Denmark, within the fields of clinical and basic biomedical research.
Grants are available for equipment, consumables including experimental animals and salaries for scientific and technical assistance as well as research year students. You cannot apply for own salary, salary for PhD students or overhead. The requested funding must be between 300.000 and 700.000 DKK per year for a period up to 3 years.

Deadline: 25. September 2014 at 4pm.

The Lundbeck Foundation

Grants within Biomedicine and Health Science
- PhD stipend (applicant must be one of the responsible mentors, PhD student to be as co-applicant).
- Postdoc Fellowship in Denmark (independent research project or part of a bigger program)
- International Postdoc projects (only for projects taking place outside DK)
- Running costs (for supplemental running costs for research projects, where all costs for salaries have been covered already)

Deadline: 25 November 2014

European Research Council grants (ERC)

Three ERC frontier research grants will be available under Work Programme 2015: Starting; Consolidator; and Advanced Grants, with the following expected deadlines:

ERC-2015-StG/Starting Grants. Supports top researchers with 2-7 years of experience from their PhD.
Call: 7/10-2014
Deadline: 3/2-2015

ERC-2015-CoG/Consolidator Grants. Support top researchers with 7-12 years of experience form their PhD.
Call: 13/11-2014
Deadline: 12/3-2015

ERC-2015-AdG/Advanced Grants. Open to excellent, established researchers who have a recent research track record which identifies them as leaders in their research fields.
Call: 10/2-2015
Deadline: 2/6-2015

Please remember the Faculty of Science’s internal approval procedures, when applying for external funding: Budgets must be prepared in cooperation with Support Office, Science (SOS), and requests for budget assistance from applicants must be sent to SOS no later than 10 working days before application deadline.

Our original database, Panda, has been replaced by Acadre – but please note, that all researchers still have access to their own applications registered in Panda.

All applications sent to NATapplications@sdu.dk after the 14th of May are registered in Acadre – the address will be announced at some point after the summer holidays 2014.
