The Faculty of Science usually has a high rate of applications in connection with the Danish Council for Independent Research’s autumn call for proposals, meaning that many researchers request support from Support Office, Science almost simultaneously.
Therefore, we kindly ask researchers that plan to apply to any of the coming calls from the Danish Council for Independent Research to advise SOS soonest possible in case application and/or CV guidance is required.
For budget assistance only, SOS must be contacted no later than 10 working days prior to deadline, and preferably earlier than this.

The Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF)

Information meeting with DFF regarding funding opportunities during autumn 2014 and spring 2015 takes place here at SDU 3. September 2014 at 10:00-11:30 in BMB’s seminar room.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Committee for Medical and Natural Science Research

Calls for grant proposals for research projects in Denmark, within the fields of clinical and basic biomedical research.
You are welcome to attend an info meeting regarding this call with the Novo Nordisk Foundations’s Committee at SDU on 4. September 2014, 13:00-14:30, room WP25.104, J.B. Winsløws vej 25. No registration required.
Grants are available for equipment, consumables including experimental animals and salaries for scientific and technical assistance as well as research year students. You cannot apply for own salary, salary for PhD students or overhead. The requested funding must be between 300.000 and 700.000 DKK per year for a period up to 3 years.

Deadline: 25. September 2014 at 4pm.

Grønt Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram (GUDP)

The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries calls for grant proposals for research and development projects within the fields of food science and agriculture in a broad sense.GUDP has a strong focus on involvement of private companies in proposals for research and development project.
Max subsidies for a period up to 4 years: 0,25-2 mio.DKK for small projects and network projects; 2-15 mio.DKK for larger collaboration projects.

The Danish Stem Cell Center (DanStem)

The Danish Stem Cell Center (DanStem) at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen has launched a call for applications under the center's National Collaboration Initiative. Funding for collaborative projects is supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation Section for Basic Stem Biology.
Collaborative grants of up to 1 mio.DKK per year for up to 3 years will be awarded. OH is NOT funded.
Eligible costs:
- Scientific salary for PhDs and Postdocs
- Technical staff salary
- Laboratory consumables including animal costs and minor equipmen
- Travel

Deadline: 15. September 2014

Villum Foundation – Individuelle postdoc

Call open for funding opportunities for individuelle postdoc scholarships. Grants will be awarded for young researchers within the technical and scientific research for the continuation of research after obtaining a PhD degree. Grants include a mobility requirement.
Only Danish citizens can apply.

The Carlsberg Foundation

The Carlsberg Foundation supports basic research within the natural sciences, the humanities and the social sciences.o Postdoc grants – abroad for min. 6 months (salary)
o Postdoc grants – in Denmark (salary)
o Travel grants
o Grants for conferences
o Grants for publications
o Grants for scientific equipment/apparatus
o Grants for research trips
o Grants for major research projects
Not funded: a) Overhead costs linked to the grants. b) Clinical, technical, and other practical projects outside the research areas supported by the Carlsberg Foundation.

Deadline: 1 October every year

Strategic cooperation between Griffith University, Australia and University of Southern Denmark.

Researchers from each institution have the possibility to apply for seed money for joint projects such as research projects, papers or grant applications, etc.

The Lundbeck Foundation

Grants within Biomedicine and Health Science- PhD stipend (applicant must be one of the responsible mentors, PhD student to be as co-applicant).
- Postdoc Fellowship in Denmark (independent research project or part of a bigger program)
- International Postdoc projects (only for projects taking place outside DK)
- Running costs (for supplemental running costs for research projects, where all costs for salaries have been covered already)

Deadline: 25 November 2014

European Research Council grants (ERC)

Three ERC frontier research grants will be available under Work Programme 2015: Starting; Consolidator; and Advanced Grants, with the following expected deadlines:

ERC-2015-StG/Starting Grants. Supports top researchers with 2-7 years of experience from their PhD.
Call: 7/10-2014
Deadline: 3/2-2015

ERC-2015-CoG/Consolidator Grants. Support top researchers with 7-12 years of experience form their PhD.
Call: 13/11-2014
Deadline: 12/3-2015

ERC-2015-AdG/Advanced Grants. Open to excellent, established researchers who have a recent research track record which identifies them as leaders in their research fields.
Call: 10/2-2015
Deadline: 2/6-2015
