calls for grant proposals for research projects in Denmark, within the fields of clinical and basic biomedical
You are welcome to attend an info meeting regarding this call with the Novo Nordisk Foundations’s
Committee at SDU on 4. September 2014, 13:00-14:30, room WP25.104, J.B. Winsløws vej 25. No
Grants are available for equipment, consumables including experimental animals and salaries for scientific
and technical assistance as well as research year students.
You cannot apply for own salary, salary for PhD students or overhead.
The requested funding must be between 300.000 and 700.000 DKK per year for a period up to 3 years.

Grønt Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram (GUDP)
The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries calls for grant proposals for research and development
projects within the fields of food science and agriculture in a broad sense.
GUDP has a strong focus on involvement of private companies in proposals for research and development
Max subsidies for a period up to 4 years: 0,25-2 mio.DKK for small projects and network projects; 2-15
mio.DKK for larger collaboration projects.

Individual Fellowships (IF)
Individual Fellowships provide opportunities to acquire and transfer new knowledge and to work on
research in a European context (EU Member States and Associated Countries) or outside Europe. The
scheme particularly supports the return and reintegration of researchers from outside Europe who have
previously worked here. It also develops or helps to restart the careers of individual researchers that show
great potential, considering their experience.
Support is foreseen for individual, trans-national fellowships awarded to the best or most promising
researchers for employment in EU Member States or Associated Countries, based on an application made
jointly by the researcher and host organisation in the academic or non-academic sectors.
The applicants must, at the deadline for the submission of proposals, be in possession of a doctoral degree
or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience.
The IF proposals may take one of the following forms:
- European Fellowship
- Global Fellowships

The Danish Stem Cell Center (DanStem)
The Danish Stem Cell Center (DanStem) at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of
Copenhagen has launched a call for applications under the center's National Collaboration Initiative.
Funding for collaborative projects is supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation Section for Basic Stem
Collaborative grants of up to 1 mio.DKK per year for up to 3 years will be awarded. OH is NOT funded.
- Scientific salary for PhDs and Postdocs
- Technical staff salary
- Laboratory consumables including animal costs and minor equipmen

Call open for funding opportunities for individuelle postdoc scholarships. Grants will be awarded for young
researchers within the technical and scientific research for the continuation of research after obtaining a
PhD degree. Grants include a mobility requirement.

The Carlsberg Foundation supports basic research within the natural sciences, the humanities and the social

Strategic cooperation between Griffith University, Australia and University of Southern Denmark.
Researchers from each institution have the possibility to apply for seed money for joint projects such as

The Lundbeck Foundation
Grants within Biomedicine and Health Science
- PhD stipend (applicant must be one of the responsible mentors, PhD student to be as coapplicant).
- Postdoc Fellowship in Denmark (independent research project or part of a bigger program)

- Running costs (for supplemental running costs for research projects, where all costs for salaries
have been covered already)

European Research Council grants (ERC)
Three ERC frontier research grants will be available under Work Programme 2015: Starting; Consolidator;
and Advanced Grants, with the following expected deadlines:
ERC-2015-StG/Starting Grants. Supports top researchers with 2-7 years of experience from their PhD.
ERC-2015-CoG/Consolidator Grants. Support top researchers with 7-12 years of experience form their PhD.
ERC-2015-AdG/Advanced Grants. Open to excellent, established researchers who have a recent research
track record which identifies them as leaders in their research fields.

How to write a competitive grant proposal - 2 days course for Researchers and PhD students
The course targets and will be beneficial for researchers at all career stages, but with main focus on earlycareer
fundraising options (PhD student to assistant-professor level).
The purpose of this course is to train participants in efficient grant proposal writing, and to provide a
deeper understanding of the factors affecting the success of a grant proposal, both in Denmark and
The core activity of the course is for each participant to develop a competitive research grant proposal.
