SDU has a strategic goal of becoming a digital front-runner in the Danish education sector, and we are ambitious from an international perspective when it comes to developing advanced analytics.
In many areas, the labor market is on the move with digital solutions that include big data and artificial intelligence. Internationally, data-driven learning analytics is emerging as a discipline.
These years several Danish educational institutions are experimenting with introducing learning analytics and advanced analytics, as part of analytical capacity and as management information.
Therefor SDU Analytics establishes an innovative development environment for SDU's students on January 2020: Student Analytics Lab.
SDU Analytics will allow the university's students to use advanced analytics for:
Development of digital “student-to-student” solutions.
Initially, a self-monitoring tool should be developed for students. The solution should create an overview and act as digital help during the studies. For a start, a prototype will be developed for testing on selected programs by 2020, later the ambition is to scale the solution to cover all students who wish to use the solution. There are great degrees of freedom in how the solution is developed and what the solution can accommodate, but overall, the solution for student self-monitoring must respect both business, legal and ethical issues.
Student assistants are hired for this task. See current job post at sdujob.
The use of advanced analytics for undergraduate- and master thesis projects, in order to generate new knowledge, test new methods of analysis, etc. in collaboration with the faculty at the faculties.
The idea is that students will have the opportunity to use SDU data or SDU related data for their undergraduate- and master thesis projects with respect for both business, legal and ethical issues.
The Student Analytics Lab is part of the Project Advanced Analytics, which is scheduled for 2018 - 2021.
