Further reopening of SDU from 27 May
The political agreement means that a significant part of SDU's staff will be allowed to return to their workplace. Unfortunately, most of our students will have to wait until August.
On 20 May, the government and the political parties of the Danish Parliament presented an agreement on further reopening of Danish society (see link).
The agreement means that a significant part of SDU's staff will be allowed to return to their workplace. Unfortunately, most of our students will have to wait until August.
Especially for staff members
Specifically, the political agreement means that public employees whose workplace is located in Funen and Jutland will have the opportunity to return.
Public employees whose workplace is located in Zealand and the capital remain furloughed and will have to work from home. However, the political agreement allows researchers and technical and administrative staff to work on campus if the research activities require physical presence.
For SDU employees, this means:
- Employees who work on-campus in Odense, Kolding, Esbjerg and Sonderborg will have the opportunity to attend work from Wednesday 27 May. The reopening will be calm and controlled. Each employee and his/her immediate manager will agree on the specifics for accessing the campus and the possibility of continuing to work from home, taking the tasks, inclusion and individual concerns into account.
- Employees who work at SDU Slagelse and SDU Copenhagen will still only have the opportunity to work at home and will not be able to attend the workplace unless they carry out or support research activities that require physical presence. Faculties with researchers and technical/administrative staff at Campus Slagelse and Campus Copenhagen will inform staff concerned as soon as possible about the detailed guidelines for access.
Especially for students
The political agreement means that higher education will continue to be on lockdown. Therefore, students will still not have access to SDU's buildings. Only students who have select teaching and exam activities that require physical attendance will be able to access SDU's campuses. Examples of such activities are laboratory courses, skills training, field work etc. In addition, the political agreement allows the University to conduct oral examinations. The faculties will provide further information to students concerned.
SDU's management appreciates that many students want physical access to SDU again, and we hope that all students will have the opportunity to return as soon as possible. However, according to the current political agreement, this will not happen until August.
In order to open properly, SDU must comply with the authorities' health instructions and guidelines. On Wednesday, May 20, SDU's management discussed draft guidelines for phase 2 of the reopening with the Central Liaison Committee (HSU), the General Occupational Health and Safety Committee (HoAmU) and De Studerende i Centrum (DSIC). Based on the meetings, SDU's guidelines will be adapted. They will be published on Tuesday 26 May.
