Follow-up to political agreement on partial reopening of research laboratories for researchers and students

The exact time for the reopening of the research laboratories is not yet known, but we expect the reopening to happen next week (week 17).

On Friday 17 April, we briefed you on the political agreement to partially reopen research laboratories for researchers and students. (For employees, please see sdunet.dk. For students, please see mitsdu.dk.)

The exact time for the reopening of the research laboratories is not yet known. We expect the reopening to happen next week (week 17), once the authorities have approved the number of people allowed to be present on campus at the same time, as well as the detailed guidelines to prevent the spread of infection on campus.

On Saturday, SDU and the other universities in Denmark calculated the number of researchers and postdocs, PhD students, graduate students and technical staff who must have access to the laboratories, based on the political agreement. On the basis of the calculated statements, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science will decide who can access the laboratories again. We are awaiting the Ministry's feedback.

The universities are currently formulating guidelines to prevent the spread of infection in and around the laboratories, so that the guidelines of the health authorities on physical distance, hygiene and protective equipment can be met. We are awaiting the authorities’ approval of the university guidelines.

We will issue further information as soon as we know the time and details of the partial reopening of the laboratories at SDU.

Best regards,

Thomas Buchvald Vind
