This study evaluates how electrified railroad transportation will stand against other alternative technologies in a future electricity system with fluctuating electricity production and how it should be designed to be implemented in a Smart Grid. A Cost-benefit analysis is made with respect to Svendborgbanen. The goal with this report is to clarify if it is economical and environmentally responsible to electrify the Danish railroad network and furthermore how much it will benefit the society.
