About the department

The Department of Regional Health Research, in collaboration with the Region of Southern Denmark and the Region of Zealand, is dedicated to enhancing cooperation to create optimal conditions for research and education.

The Department of Regional Health Research (IRS) was established in 2007 in the Region of Southern Denmark and has since grown to have employees in research groups across 12 different hospitals in the Region Zealand, Region of Southern Denmark, and Region Capital. IRS focuses on building and supporting sustainable research environments as well as education.

The department supports research related to the holistic well-being of individuals and works with an emphasis on whole patient pathways across sectors, hospitals, and disciplines. IRS boasts a diverse range of expertise and a network of dedicated individuals who cultivate relationships and create space for involvement.

IRS facilitates collaboration and coordination across research units and hospitals. The department serves as an organizational framework for clinical research and education, connecting research environments and expertise across geographical locations. Despite not having a single physical location, IRS operates as a community where researchers, students, and staff have open doors to share research, skills, and infrastructure.
