Programme Management at the Faculty of Engineering

Director of Studies

The director of studies represents the faculty management and holds the overall responsibility for all study programmes at the faculty.

Head of Department

The Head of Department is responsible for all the programmes that belong under their institute. The Head of department refers to the Director of Studies in correlation with programmes.

Head of Programme

A faculty member has been appointed by the faculty management and the Dirctor of Studies  for the position of Head of Programme. The Head of Programme, with reference to the Head of Department, holds a special responsibility for the general development and coordination of the study programme he/she is coordinating. The programme coordinator holds the position of chairman of the education committee of the study programme and is a member of the faculty’s education forum.

Academic Study Board

Here are all decisions regarding to legislation that belong under the Academic Study Board  made. This includes decisions regarding planning, excecution and development of the engineering programmes at the Faculty of Engineering. Furthermore, decisions are made in dispensation cases, including dispensation applications from individual students.

The Academic Study Board is a democratically elected organ which consists of both academic staff and students from the faculty's five institutes. See also the Academic Study Board programmes at the Faculty of Engineering.

Education Committees

There is an Education Committees for each of the faculty's Engineering programmes.

It is the responsibility of the education committees to serve as the forum for development of the individual programmes by ensuring that all relevant academic environments are involved in its work. Aside from the programme coordinator the committees consists of scientist and teachers related to the central academic fields of the programme as well as representatives of the students of the programme. The Student representative in UUV is selected at a meeting in December.The election period is a calender year (1 January – 31 December).  Students who wish to run as candidates, should write to studienaevn@tek.sdu.dk by 1 December.

Should there be more candidates than there are seats for student representatives in the education committee in question, the student members of the Academic Study Board choose between the candidates.

Education Forum

At the Faculty of Engineering there is an united Education Forum (TEK-UF) and a education forum for each institute.

The education forum at the Faculty of Engineering is cross-disciplinary and serves to provide a unifying forum to ensure a coordinated development of teaching and the Faculty’s study programmes. Read more about the Education Forum.

In each individual institute's Education Forum  the education development for the programmes are discussed, including mixed classes across the programmes. The Head of Department leads the institution's Education Forum and all Head of Programmes from the institute's programmes are members.
