About Denmark

The Kingdom of Denmark is quietly nestled between Germany to the south and raging seas on all other sides. 16,638.69 square miles of pancake flat, arable land and sandy coasts populated by 5.7 million of the happiest people on earth – as nominated by the World Happiness Report.

Denmark is the most egalitarian society in the world and is guided by a strong set of core values such as freedom for the individual, equality, respect, tolerance, and a strong sense of mutual trust. Combine this with an effective, well-run society, one of the world’s best welfare systems and a well-developed infrastructure and the result is an ideal meeting spot for congress participants from all corners of the world.

But besides Danish welfare, there is plenty more here to inspire you. Denmark is rich in history, it is one of the oldest monarchies in the world, it has a thriving cultural scene, and in addition it has become the forerunner in the New Nordic Cuisine movement that has taken the culinary world by storm in recent years. Denmark also boasts an impressive design heritage that reaches far beyond its borders.

For generations, Denmark has set new standards in everything from entrepreneurial spirit, learning environments, green tech solutions and offshore energy.

South Denmark, which consists of South Jutland and the island of Funen, with Odense as its capital, is Denmark’s historic borderland and has both a rich and varied past and a unique culture. It is a gentle, open land, bordered by the Great Belt to the east and the UNESCO World Heritage site the Wadden Sea National Park to the west.

The Region of Southern Denmark provides a wealth of opportunities within a relatively small area.

The distance between the urban centres and stunning natural variation is small. Southern Denmark boasts tranquil beech woods and windswept dunes. The region has more than two thousand kilometres of coastline. Denmark is calm, beautiful, and green. When you attend a conference in Denmark, you will be sure to notice.
