We invite you to join the PACA seminar Reclaiming Earthcare Ancestries, in which postdoc Manuela Zechner will present her findings from a workshop exploring Earthcare ancestries as family or place based connections to peasant forms of life and knowledge. The workshop (taking place in Vienna in November 2024) is based on playful oral and intimate methodologies of remembering, recounting, co-research and care. Brought together by participants and Earthcare experts, including farmers from the women's circle of La Via Campesina Austria, as well as rural co-research initiatives.
The common starting point is a desire to counteract the quick forgetting of peasant culture and intelligence that the modernization of agriculture and emptying of the countryside have brought with them - rooted in an understanding that this erasure of memory us key to our alienation as urbanites and workers.
