Teaching committees

The tasks of a teaching committee are the following:

  • preliminary processing of academic assessments and opinions when relevant to the case handling of the study boards
  • discussing course evaluations and action plans
  • recommending changes in programme regulations and course descriptions for decision by the relevant study board
  • continuously developing the degree programmes falling under its jurisdiction
  • advising the Head of Department on educational matters

Each committee must be composed of lecturers and students in such a way that it reflects the academic profiles of the degree programmes falling under its jurisdiction.

The committee may delegate to the chairman, or to a narrower subcommittee, to deal with certain types of individual cases without any fundamental significance. However, the results of evaluations and subsequent action plans should always be submitted to the entire teaching committee.

An academically relevant student representative must be involved in the preliminary processing of programme regulations and course descriptions before any recommendations are submitted to the relevant study board.

For each degree programme falling under the jurisdiction of a particular teaching committee, a programme coordinator must be appointed among the members of the respective teaching committee.
