The Self-Match Study

In the Self-Match Study we examine whether you better benefit from alcohol treatment if you choose the type treatment yourself. The Self-Match Study is the first of its kind to investigate the effects of ‘self-matching’ treatment for alcohol disorders versus assignment by a clinical expert.

The alcohol treatment in Odense offers 5 different therapeutic types of treatment. Normally, patients are assigned type of treatment based on an algorithm, that calculates which type of treatment that will fit the best.

In the Self-Match Study you get drawn into either the self-match group or the control group. In the self-match group you watch a video presentation about the treatment options, and afterward you pick the type of treatment you want. In the control group the type of treatment are assigned by the algorithm.
