Sharing personal data with others

If you wish to share personal data collected for a research project to parties with other than those involved in the research project, you must involve SDU RIO in order to ensure that the data protection regulations are complied with.

When sharing personal information from your research project to a third party, you must pay attention to whether the recipient of the information is employed inside or outside SDU. This is essential for the type of form you will need to complete.

Disclosure or transfer?

Disclosure is when you share personal data with a third party (not SDU) but inside EU.

Transferring is when you transfer personal data to a third party (not SDU) but outside EU.

To facilitate processing, you must complete one of the following forms:

  • Transferring of personal data to third parties established outside the EU / EEA

See the Danish Data Protection Agency’s forms

  • Disclosure of personal data to third parties established within the EU

See SDU’s form

Handing over

Handing over is when you share personal data with an SDU colleague. The recipient project must be approved on SDU's record of projects.
