Course description: The aim of the PhD course is to facilitate participants’ comprehensive reflection on the main components of a systematic review and meta-analysis. The four day course is designed around a serious of lectures (L) and group work (GW) sessions for about 20 participants. The group work sessions will imply work on an assigned case (one to each of four groups): Present the design of a systematic review of treatment A for condition B. We will try to select cases that course participants are actually working on, if that is unpractical we will develop hypothetical cases.
Participants: The course is suited for students that are undertaking a systematic review but also intended as a sound introduction to the discipline.
Preparations: A course folder will include practical information + access information to a website where course materiel texts can be found: basic literature on systematic reviews, meta-analysis, etc.
Expected learning outcomes: Providing a good basis for conducting a first systematic review and a sound foundation for interpreting results from systematic reviews others have conducted
