Pursuant to the PhD Order, PhD students must actively participate in research environments, including stays at other, primarily foreign, research institutions.
The head of the PhD School under the Faculty of Engineering approves the venue of change of research environments in the Research and Study Plan. The change of research environment must last at least three consecutive weeks, but the Faculty encourages longer stays.
PhD students who have earned their master’s degree abroad (i.e. completed their entire course of master’s studies abroad) are exempt from the requirement for a change of research environment abroad as part of their PhD programme (i.e. change of research environment may be carried out at another research institution in Denmark).
The change of research environment is to be planned by the PhD student in collaboration with his/her supervisor(s), the research training programme and any other contacts.
Changes of venue for the change of research environment described in the Research and Study Plan are to be approved by submitting an exemption application, using the form designed for this purpose, to the PhD Committee.
When a PhD student has completed the change of environment a confirmation of the stay must be submitted to the PhD administration.
